May I suggest a change in operation? Instead of asking people to pedal backwards, why not have slow pedalling put the cursor at the bottom of the screen, and fast pedalling at the top of the screen?

Surely the spools must be pretty weak and all the strength in the roller, otherwise it would be real hard to scratch...

What about making a 2.5D mouse. With two seeing mice.
Two optical mouse it should be possible to track the normal left, right and up, down plus an additional rotation? The scroll wheel of one could be used to control tilt particularly if the supper mouse could pivot in the center. The precision would not be as good as Hor, Ver and Rot but it would not have to. I been wanting to make one of these since I was Neils 3d mouse. Neil and I both made CD lamps. I got a lot of hits on my site the day of that Slashdot article.

This is a great idea.Thanks for publishing it. I'm going to give it a try. I have an Acetone tape loop delay [looks pretty much like a 201] and a Melos cartridge tape delay. I love tape delays, and you can never have too many. Thanks again,Karl May
